Joel Heinrich leads early in Tasmania

Osborn’s Transport Joel Heinrich has led the way in opening practice for Round 3 of the 2023 Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series at Symmons Plains in support of the Supercars Championship.

Heinrich set a 1m 01.053s to lead title rival Josh Anderson by 0.077s in the lead Team CoolDrive Mustang as third was Masters Cup contender Klark Quinn for Norganic Proteins in an impressive display after being knocked out of a podium position at Queensland Raceway.

Rookie outright race winner Rylan Gray continued his strong form to be fourth ahead of guest driver Ryder Quinn replacing Steve Jakic in the Black Diamond Building and Construction Euro GT.

Level second in the standings, Reece Chapman was sixth for Team CoolDrive/Motorsport 25 from the leader of Gold Cup, Western Sydney Motorsport’s Craig Thompson, another Rookie Cup outright race winner Brandon Madden for Riskie Racing and previous series winner Sheridan Phillips ninth.

Rounding out the top 10 was the Fight MND Mustang of Jeff Watters, who was within a second of Heinrich.

Gray led the way in Rookie Cup from Quinn and Madden, with the close proximity of all three promising a close battle between the trio.

Gold Cup was headed by Thompson from Watters and James Ward, once again replacing Scott Gore in the ASAP Marketing Mustang.

While Quinn was a comfortable leader in the Masters Cup, Grant Thompson for Western Sydney Motorsport was just ahead of Muscle Motor Trimmers’ Andrew Longelly driving a Euro GT.

Now the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series moves into qualifying at 2:20pm AEST, which can be tracked on Natsoft live timing. All four races will be featured live and uninterrupted on Fox Sports.
