The Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series presented by TFH Hire re-joins the Repco Supercars Championship at the Symmons Plains bullring in Tasmania this weekend.
Reigning title winner Joel Heinrich enters the second round of the season leading the standings following two wins in Sydney, but key rival Kody Garland also tasted victory debuting his new Triple Eight Race Engineering chassis and is keen to get back on top.
The two will renew their rivalry in Tasmania where Garland held the upper hand last year by winning the round courtesy of pole and three race victories. These wins ignited his title challenge that ultimately saw him finish on equal points with Heinrich, only to lose the title on countback.
Heinrich also tasted victory in Tasmania on the way to securing the 2024 title – his third in the Aussie Racing Cars Series – but a few new challengers emerged in Sydney.
One of those was Jack Boyd in the Craill Johnston Racing Enterprises entry who completed the opening round sitting third in the standings.
This adds to the already stacked Championship field including Reece Chapman, Ryan Reynolds, reigning Rookie Cup winner Mason Harvey, Scott Andriske and Des Collier for TFH Racing.
Scott Dornan leads Gold Cup and also sits fourth outright in the standings, highlighting his strong performance in Sydney. Joseph Andriske, Denis Butler, David Makin and Jeff Watters in the FightMND entry will aim to topple Dornan's Gold Cup dominance on the Apple Isle.
A class wide open is Masters Cup. Class leader Brett Osborn won't make the trek to Tasmania, but the return of Kent Quinn provides stiff competition to Shane Mann, Asher Johnston, Troy Jones and Cody Mckay.
Rookie Cup welcomes a new addition in the form of Kim Andersen as part of an expanded three-entry Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises line-up. Caleb Patterson was another to impress in the mixed conditions provided in Sydney and will be another to watch alongside Boyd.
The Battery World Aussie Racing Series presented by TFH Hire will contest four races over the three-day event as support to the Repco Supercars Championship on May 9-11.
