A hat-trick for Shane van Gisbergen at Highlands

Shane van Gisbergen has continued on his winning ways, spectacularly winning the inverted top 10 race at Highlands Motorsport Park for the final round of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series.

Van Gisbergen was aided by a mid-race safety car after Shell Rimula Topgun Racing Team’s Cody Brewczynski had taken the lead, but he was unable to resist the hometown hero’s pressure at the restart to take the win.

CoolDrive/Motorsport25’s Reece Chapman rounded out the podium slots as he aims to rebound from a slow start to the weekend leaving Osborn’s Transport driver and series leader Joel Heinrich o finish fourth.

Fellow title contender Josh Anderson was fifth from Rookie Cup winner Brandon Madden, Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn and former series victor Darren Chamberlin.

Gold Cup winner Sheridan Phillips was ninth from rival Scott Dornan.

The safety car was required when Ian Chivas’s entry had dislodged bodywork after a collision, but he returned to the action finishing 24th.

Tomorrow's final race of the season begins at 8:50am local time.
