Shane van Gisbergen adds another victory at Highlands

Norganic Proteins driver Shane van Gisbergen secured another victory despite an early safety car in Race 2 of the season finale of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars at Highlands Motorsport Park.

It was an exciting event as van Gisbergen held off the advances of Shell Rimula Topgun Race Team’s Cody Brewczynski, CoolDrive-supported driver Josh Anderson for Perenso Racing and series leader Joel Heinrich in the Osborn’s Transport entry.

The quartet entertained for the duration of the race as van Gisbergen negated all the advances from Brewcyznski. Contact between the two allowed Heinrich to take second after he had passed Anderson earlier enhancing his title aspirations.

Reece Chapman climbed up to fifth as Brandon Madden won Rookie Cup in fifth from second in class Scott Andriske, while Kent Quinn was eight and took the win in Masters Cup.

Gold Cup victor Sheridan Phillips was ninth from Brendon Tucker.

The safety car interrupted the race only once after a collision between Nathan Williams and Scott Gore.

Race 3 of the weekend is set to take place at 5:20pm local time live on Sky Sport, Fox Sports and Kayo (AU).
