Series leader Joel Heinrich strikes first in Tasmania by barest of margins

The Osborn’s Transport entry of Joel Heinrich has led the way in the one and only practice session for Round 2 of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series presented by TFH Hire at Symmons Plains.

Heinrich finished the opening session of the weekend on top by achieving a 1m 00.846s lap time to just edge reigning Rookie Cup winner Mason Harvey by 0.070s.

Behind the lead two was title contender Kody Garland for MTA NSW driving the new Triple Eight Race Engineering-built chassis from TFH Racing’s Scott Andriske and the returning Kent Quinn for Norganic Proteins Australia.

Racer Industries/Motorsport25’s Reece Chapman was sixth ahead of the leading Johnston Craill Racing Enterprises Mustang of Asher Johnston, while Caleb Patterson led the Rookie Cup in the second Norganic Proteins Australia entry from Gold Cup contender Scott Dornan for Action Line Marking.

Completing the top 10 was Reynovate Constructions supported Ryan Reynolds.

Displaying the closeness of the field early, the first 11 entries were covered by less than a second in the first practice session.

As reigning Masters Cup winner from last year, Quinn continued this at Symmons Plains to lead Cody Mckay and Shane Mann.

Joseph Andriske and Scott Makin trailed Dornan in Gold Cup, with Paterson taking Rookie Cup honours from Kyle Lovering and debutant Kim Andersen.

Qualifying is next at Symmons Plains for the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Series presented by TFH Hire at 11:20am AEST.

This occurs outside the Kayo broadcast time, so keep updated via the website and our social media channels, with all four races to be featured live across the weekend starting tomorrow.
