Pole for Cody Brewczynski at Reid Park

Shell Rimula Topgun Race Team’s Cody Brewczynski has continued his hot streak of form by converting practice pace into pole position for the opening race for the fifth round of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series.

It was a large margin between the top two in the end as Brewczynski set a 1m 23.492s to lead Team CoolDrive/Perenso Racing’s Josh Anderson by 0.645s.

Anderson is just one of three drivers in a close fight for this year’s title and current series leader Joel Heinrich will start third in the Osborn’s Transport Mustang as Reece Chapman rounded out the contenders in fourth driving the second Team CoolDrive supported entry for Motorsport 25.

Anthony DiMauro caused a red flag after heading up the escape road was unable to pluck reverse in the Koan Solutions entry leaving his fifth place provisional at this stage.

Rookie Cup contender Brandon Madden continued his impressive run since debuting at Queensland Raceway to be sixth for Riskie Racing, while Western Sydney Motorsport’s Craig Woods led TFH Hire Services driver Scott Andriske, Adam Uebergang driving the Arcadia Village Motel entry and Kyle Ensbey rounded out the 10 in his Mustang.

Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn just missed the top 10 in the Norganic Proteins Mustang, with second being Scott O’Keefe back in 19thdriving the MSS Group/O’Keefe Motorsport entry and Heinrich’s teammate Brett Osborn was third in the class.

It was Madden leading Rookie Cup from Risky and Nathan Williams in 12th outright racing for his own outfit.

Gold Cup was led by Matt Gooding in the PCA/MGR Racing Camaro in 13th ahead of the Western Sydney Motorsport entry of Craig Thompson and Sheridan Phillips racing for Phillips & Co Automotive.

The opening race of the weekend is this afternoon at 1:40pm AEST live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo.
