Kody Garland paces opening Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series session at Queensland Raceway

MTA NSW’s Kody Garland has paced the sole practice session of the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series at Queensland Raceway.

Garland heads into this afternoon’s qualifying session with solid momentum by setting a 1m 20.469s to lead reigning series winner Joel Heinrich in the Osborn’s Transport entry by 0.116s as once again the weekend promises to be closely contested.

Racing in just his second weekend of Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series action, Corish Motorsports driver Mason Harvey was third from Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn for Norganics Protein and Motorsport 25’s Reece Chapman backed by Guardian Interlock Systems in fifth.

The Diesel Express entry of Kyle Ensbey was next ahead of last year’s winner on debut Brandon Madden for Riskie Racing, with 2022 series winner Josh Anderson returning to be eighth in another Corish Motorsport entry.

Rounding out the top 10 was Western Sydney Motorsport’s Cody Brewczynski and Chris Mercer in the City Sweep Racing entry.

Jordan Freestone in his ANZAC tribute livery, Scott Dornan and Anthony DiMauro just missed the top 10.

Behind Quinn in Masters Cup was Mercer and MSS Group’s Scott O’Keefe.

Gold Cup was led by Dornan from Property Compliance Australia Racing’s Matt Gooding and Rookie Shane Mann in the Safe Direction entry.

Harvey was not only third outright, but first in Rookie Cup from Freestone and the second Riskie Racing entry for Joseph Andriske in Rookie Cup.

Qualifying is next up for the Battery World Aussie Racing Car Super Series at 4:05pm AEST.
