Joel Heinrich leads the way after first session in the west

Reigning Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series winner Joel Heinrich has set the pace after opening practice at Carco.com.au Raceway in Perth.

Heinrich set a 1m 03.792 in the Osborn’s Transport entry to lead MTA NSW’s Kody Garland by 0.060s as hometown driver Mason Harvey rounded out the top three and was fastest Rookie Cup competitor for Corish Motorsports a further 0.034s off the pace.

Western Sydney Motorsport driver Cody Brewczynski was fourth from Corish Motorsports’ Josh Anderson and the Guardian Interlock Systems entry of Reece Chapman.

Brandon Madden for Riskie Racing, the Competition Coatings entry of Nathan Williams, Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn and Rookie Cup contender Jordan Freestone rounded out the first 10 runners in the third Corish Motorsport entry.

Behind the two Corish Motorsport entries of Harvey and Freestone in the Rookie Cup was debutant Lachlan Evennett for WLM Motorsports.

Quinn led Cody Mckay and returnee Asher Johnston in the Craill Johnston Racing Enterprises entry in Masters Cup.

Action Line Marking’s Scott Dornan continued where he left off at Queensland Raceway to be at the head of Gold Cup from Riskie Racing’s Joseph Andriske and the Fight MND entry of Jeff Watters.

Qualifying in Perth is up next at 12:20pm AWST/2:20pm AEST today.
