Hidden Valley battle royale as Joel Heinrich takes win number 10 of 2023

It was another hard fought race for Osborn’s Transport driver Joel Heinrich as he secured his 10th victory of the season ahead of Team CoolDrive/Motorsport 25’s Reece Chapman and Cody Brewczynski in the Shell Rimula Topgun Race Team Mustang.

Josh Anderson and Heinrich continued their battle in Race 2for the opening four laps as the Team CoolDrive/Perenso Racing entry made another perfect start to lead from the Osborn’s Transport entry in addition to Brewczynski.

Behind, the Koan Solutions Camaro of Anthony Di Mauro dropped back to sixth as the second Team CoolDrive/Motorsport 25 entry of Reece Chapman and Riskie Racing’s Brandon Madden, who continued to lead the Rookie Cup.

Heinrich demoted Anderson to second on lap five and Brewczynski also moved through as the reigning series winner now had Chapman behind in afour-way fight at the head of the field.

Madden remained 1.5s behind the lead quartet and was still holding Di Mauro at bay, with Nathan Williams a further 3.1s behind leading a pack including Masters Cup contender Kent Quinn for Norganic Proteins.

A feisty battle for the final positions inside the top 10 included Action Lin Marking’s Scott Dornan, the returning Adam Uebergang, Cody Mckay and Brendon Tucker, with contact being made on numerous occasions.

However, it was Heinrich taking the flag from Chapman after a slick move at Turn 1 on Brewczynski, who finished third ahead of Anderson, Di Mauro, Quinn, Williams, Dornan, Uebergang and Mckay.

A late-race problem for Madden dropped him out of the Rookie Cup lead as Williams took the honours from Dornan and Andrew Corish of Corish Motorsports.

Quinn again took Masters Cup from MSS Group/O’Keefe Motorsport’s Scott O’Keefe and Western Sydney Motorsport driver Grant Thompson.

Teammate Craig Thompson won Gold Cup in 11th outright from PCA/MGR Racing’s Matt Gooding as Denis Butler completed the podium in the Butler Fabrication/Team Grand Racing Camaro.

The final of three races today for the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series in Darwin is set to commence at 1:40pm ACST/2:10pmAEST.
