Kody Garland takes Race 2 in Ipswich

MTA NSW’s Kody Garland has taken victory in Race 2 of the second round for the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series at Queensland Raceway.

It was a superb demonstration of Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series action as Garland led the way following an early safety car for Rookie Cup contender Alastair Koenig was stuck in the Turn 6 gravel.

From there, Garland built a margin partly due to the intense battle for the minors, which in the end was won by Osborn’s Transport driver Joel Heinrich as Riskie Racing’s Brandon Madden completed the podium.

Two spectacular charges through the field came from fourth placed Kyle Ensbey for Diesel Express and Reece Chapman in the Guardian Interlock entry after problems halted them in Race 1.

Rookie Cup winner Mason Harvey ran as high as second, but he dropped to sixth in the shuffle to lead Masters Cup leader Kent Quinn for Norganic Proteins, Competition Coatings’ Nathan Williams, Anthony DiMauro driving the Koan Solutions entry and Action Line Marking’s Scott Dornan, who continued his success in Gold Cup.

Western Sydney Motorsport’s Cody Brewczynski was a contender for most of the duration until dropping back to 13th by the flag and was forced to stop after the finish line to put out a fire.

Harvey continued his domination of Rookie Cup to lead teammate Jordan Freestone and Riskie Racing’s Joseph Andriske, while Quinn did likewise in Masters Cup from Scott O’Keefe for MSS Group and Motorsport 25’s Troy Jones.

Dornan headed Team Grand Racing’s Denis Butler and Andriske.

Race 3 tomorrow for the Battery World Aussie Racing Cars Super Series begins at 9:45am and will be live-streamed via the ASBK website or Facebook page.
