It is with great sadness that former car owner, engineer, engine builder and good friend of Aussie Racing Cars, Gerald Daniels has passed away after a long battle with cancer.
Aussie Racing Cars Category Manager, Brad Ward reflects:
“Gerald was the first person outside of our family to truly believe in the Aussie Racing Cars concept. In the late 90’s he was instrumental in the development and production of the first cars and owned the 4th car ever built. Gerald raced in the first events held, long before CAMS sanctioned the category and then ran his son Alex in several seasons of Aussie Racing Cars competition. For the first 15 years, Gerald was the official engine builder for the category, and worked tirelessly to develop and enhance the engine program, parity and reliability of the cars. He was instrumental in the development and introduction of many of ARC’s initiatives including most notably, the water cooled engine”
“While today is the saddest day in Aussie Racing Cars history, we can feel happy and proud to have been able to work with, and learn from such a remarkable, friendly, intelligent, and kind person. Gerald will be so badly missed by the entire Aussie Racing Cars family”
“Together with the Aussie Racing Cars Family we send our thoughts and prayers to his wife Jenny, as well as Elton, Alex, Jeanie and Cindy and his grandchildren Emma, Kevin and Ethan”
