Our Local Legends of ARC Award has been presented to Craig and Grant Thompson from Western Sydney Motorsport at Sydney Motorsport Park today. "There is no other team more deserving and so local as the team from Western Sydney Motorsport, they run the category's biggest team fielding 5 Mustangs of their own and a couple of other customer cars.  Craig and Grant have been long time supports of Aussie Cars and SMP is their home track" said Brad Ward the category manager. Sunday Report Races 2-3-4 JAMES DUCKWORTH (RDA Brakes Camaro) continued his great form with another two scratch race wins today, as well as a second in the reverse top-14 grid event. On two occasions, he had to concede the early running to Kel Treseder (The Kart Centre/Team Navy Camaro) but overcame that for clear victories. THE FIFTH round of the Aussie Racing Cars 2017 Championship was held at Sydney Motorsport Park under cold and extremely windy conditions last weekend. Defending champion James Duckworth (RDA Brakes Camaro) stamped his mark once more on the field after winning the same round last year.  Fastest in qualifying Duckworth won 3 of the 4 races and finished second in race three, he also set a new lap record of 1:42.9783 on Sunday morning, Kel Treseder (KKP Motorsport Camaro) continued to improve his form to take second outright for the weekend with Blake Sciberras (Western Sydney Motorsport Mustang) banking a healthy set of points to come home third. All Eyes on Sydney Round Five

ITS ALMOST 12 months since the Aussie Racing Cars visited Sydney Motorsport Park (SMP) the class was there in September last year where they featured on the NSW CAMS Championship round, this year, like all of the 7 rounds the pocket rockets feature on the under-card with the Supercars. A field of 31 cars are entered for the four race weekend, this Friday the drivers will get two runs on the Eastern Creek based circuit.  Amazingly the practice session kicks off at 7.05am so the guys and gals will be expecting a cool start to the day, qualifying is at a more respectable time of 11.20-11.40am, the 20 minute session is where it all has to come together, there are at least 10-12 cars that…

Aussie Racing Cars Pre-Season Test Day Sydney Motorsport Park

11 drivers elected to test at Sydney Motorsport Park last Friday in searing heat, the East Coast of Australia is in a heatwave!  Temperatures climbed to 44C but the cars managed to keep circulating. Western Sydney Motorsport had seven cars here, their own Mustangs of Craig Thompson, Grant Thompson, and Craig Woods (Blake Sciberras is due to test in Queensland).  Plus they had client cars join them from Jaie Robson, Ben Walsh and Charlotte Poynting. At the other end of the pitlane was the Rinkin Racing team of Mike Rinkin, James Duckworth the category current champion, and two client cars that have joined them of Scott O’Keefe and Adam Cassuico. 2016 Aussie Racing Car Champion is back to Defend his Title

The current Aussie Racing Car Champion James Duckworth is back to defend his title in 2017 and he’s continuing his successful association with the Rinkin Racing Team. Round 5 Sydney Motorsport Park Weekend Wrap Up

The penultimate round of the 2016 Aussie Racing Cars Championship was held at Sydney Motorsport Park last weekend in very trying weather conditions.  Friday morning dawned wet but slowly fined up.  This was a kind of blessing in disguise as it gave the teams the opportunity to set the cars up for both the dry and wet conditions which would be needed before the weekend finished! The last round to be run on Australian soil this year was part of the New South Wales Motor Race Championships, 250 cars were entered over 9 categories but it was the Aussie Racing Cars that were the stand out category with nearly 40 cars on the grid. Round 5 Race Reports SMP

Sunday Race Three Report from Sydney Motorsport Park Sundays race, again in the wet was the final race for the Aussie Racing Cars on home soil for 2016, James Duckworth (RDA Brakes / Rinkin Racing Altima) continued his domination of the weekend by leading the race from start to finish, on the second lap the Safety Car came out once again, this time for Glenn McNamara (The Torque Team) who spun on top of the bridge/hill, he was able to restart the race but a lap down. After the restart the race ran for the full duration. Having a tough start was Kel Treseder (KKP Motorsport Mustang) who dropped down to 28th after appearing to stall on the grid, he eventually fought back to 16th.…

Last Aussie Racing Car Round on home Soil for 2016

The penultimate 2016 Aussie Racing Cars Championship race meeting is this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park, it’s also the final round to be held in Australia with the finale set to run in New Zealand at the revamped Hampton Downs circuit late October, with a non-championship race a week later at Pukekohe with the Supercars. Yet another huge field will hit the track in Sydney, again confirming the Pocket Rockets are Australia’s biggest one make series.  40 entrants will be vying for the all-important championship points and places on the podium.  This weekend the series is one of the headline acts at the New South Wales State Motor Racing Championships, unlike the past 5 events the class won’t be with the Supercars this round, however…
