Clipsal 500 2016 Weekend Wrap Up

The 2016 Aussie Racing Car Series got off to a fast and furious start, with a very full and busy grid.  The series returned to the Clipsal 500 after being away for a year, and the large crowd loved it! The ARC class had almost double the number of entries compared to any other class at the event, 37 of the pocket rockets took to the tight concrete lined Parklands circuit and by the end of the weekend 37 cars were still running, a feat no other class could match! The Aussie Racing Cars were first on to the track early on Thursday morning, in true street circuit tradition the track was very dusty and dirty with little to no traction for the drivers.  The…

Young Karter Joins Aussie Racing Cars

Another Kart racer has crossed the gap from karting to circuit racing.  18 year old Queenslander Ben Cox started racing karts when just 10 years old and has now progressed to the Aussie Racing Cars Championship.  “When I decided to step up to the Aussie Cars I knew I needed a good car if I was to make a real go of it, so we purchased the Mustang of Maurice Masini late last year, it’s a quick car”, said Wilcox. Ben has tested the car at both Queensland Raceway and Lakeside Park, “we've had great improvements with each test day”, he said.  The youngsters main sponsor is Wilcox Engineering and Conveyors based in Carole Park Brisbane. “At Clipsal I would like to be up the…

From Karting to Aussie Racing Cars

David Sultana has made the jump to a slightly bigger pocket rocket, from Karts to a Toyota Aurion Aussie Racing Car, “it’s quite a bit different from my Karting experience, I guess the biggest change is the lack of vision, they do handle a bit the same though, it’s not like I had to re-learn to drive” said Sultana recently. After 15 years spent in Karting David has decided to give the Aussie Cars ago for the full 2016 season.  When asked what his goals for the Clipsal 500 were his response was to be amongst the quickest of the large Rookie contingent. The New South Welshman has had a couple of test days in his new car at Wakefield Park, the Aurion is an…

Aussie Racing Cars are Clipsal’s Biggest Field

The Aussie Racing Cars are well known for pack racing, the unique cars, aptly named pocket rockets are often 3 or 4 wide at just about all the tracks they venture too. Next weekend’s Clipsal 500 is for the most part a wide circuit.  Without a doubt it will need to be, for the first round of the 2016 series, 41 cars have been entered! No other class this weekend or even all year long will field that many competitors and it's a class field, a past champion in Klye Clews is returning joining the Rinkin Motorsport team in a Nissan Altima and he’s ready for more time at the front.  And last year’s champ Brendon Pingel is excited to be defending his title.  A…

Welcome BAM Motorsport

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Welcome BAM Motorsport - Myles Bond & Sam Milton We're itching to get back on track at the Clipsal 500 and pumped to be focussed on the entire championship series for 2016! It's awesome to have round one in our home state, but I've never raced on the Clipsal track so we've got an important day on Thursday to get the car right and learn our way around the concrete jungle. The competition this year is going to be tight and fierce, there's a lot of fast drivers, new and old, and there's been a lot of pre-season testing for some. We're aiming to be right in the mix for outright honours while chasing the new Team Championship trophy. I've paired up…

Sydney 500 and End of Year Wrap

The Aussie Racing Car series wrapped up another exciting year last weekend at the Sydney 500, 33 entries took to the concrete jungle of the Homebush Street circuit.  2015 has been a long year for the pocket rocket class, the teams, families and management have “criss crossed” the country as well as travelling to New Zealand. A new champion has been crowned, Brendon Pingel from Gatton Queensland took out the competition, this first time a Queenslander has ever done so.  And with a record 33 point lead over Victorian Chris Stevenson, "our lead is the biggest ever seen in the 18 year history of the Aussies, that’s pretty cool, it’s been a tough year and a tougher final round" said Brendon after the last race.…

Sydney 500 Final Round Qualifying

AFTER SETTING the fastest time in qualifying Peter Carr will start from pole position for race one of the seventh and final round of the Aussie Racing Cars Championship Series at Sydney Olympic Park. Driving his Mako Sunglasses Ford Mustang-bodied machine for the first time since the Sydney Motorsport Park round in August, Carr was near or on top throughout the session before putting in his fastest time of 1 minute 43.0004 seconds on the seventh of his nine laps. Second fastest in the session went to Trent Young (HBR Brake Reconditioning Nissan Altima) who was 0.24secs off the pole time and three tenths up on the early pacesetter, Adam Uebergang in his Uebergang’s Euro GT. Blake Scibberas (Western Sydney Motorsport Toyota Aurion) was second…

Phillip Island Round 6 Practice

GETTING OUT early was the key to a reasonable practice lap time in a soggy first session of Aussie Racing Cars at Phillip Island today. In the one and only round six practice session before qualifying later today, rain dictated a dour first outing for the pocket rockets at the Victorian island circuit. As the rain coincided with the start of the 20-minute session, Chris Stevenson (Hertz Nissan Altima) currently lying second in the points, was the first to head the time sheets with a 1 minute 57.7844 before Adam Uebergang’s Euro GT went half a second quicker. The latter is third in the points tally. Then the rain tumbled down, nullifying any chance of faster times by any one. Third fastest for the session…

Penultimate Aussie Racing Car Round – Phillip Island

The second to last round for the 2015 Aussie Racing Cars gets under way in just 3 days, many of the teams have already begun the trip south, our third overseas if you like ;) Last year this round was our final for 2014 and the championship was almost already decided, Darren Chamberlin (Chambo) was the eventual champion in the end after a long hard fought year. Coming into this round Queensland’s Brendon Pingel (296pts) has a strong lead in the championship but not an unassailable one from Victorian Chris Stevenson (267pts) whom has been steady all year long, Pingel has won the last two rounds and is sure to be wanting to continue that form.  Another Queenslander Adam Uebergang sits in third just 4…

Aussie Racing Cars get behind Cure MND Foundation

Media Release: The Pocket Rocket Aussie Racing Cars are set to rock the Mountain next weekend with 45 cars on the grid.  “We are not racing for sheep stations but the guys and girls in our class fight hard for position on the track, when they come back to the pits there’s jokes and laughs about who dove down the inside or who went 3 wide over skyline, its great it’s a real family fun atmosphere” says Brad Ward the Category Manager. “Recently I was made aware of a very serious side to life, one of our drivers Jeff Watters from Melbourne rung me about an insidious disease call Motor Neurone Disease or MND that’s effecting some of his family friends.  Jeff wanted to help find…
