23RD TO FIRST AS CLEWS BOUNCES BACK IN AUSSIE RACING CARS AT EASTERN CREEK
9 August 2009

Kyle Clews stunned his Aussie Racing Cars competitors as he drove from 23rd on the grid to win race 3 at Eastern Creek today.

With the top ten reversed it was Peter Carr who got the early ground from Brad Ward and Tyler Owen.

Owen powered into the lead on the straight the second time around but Ward wrestled it from him at turn 2 as the pack closed in on the top three.

By the third lap Neil Crompton had gained 5 places to put him in the top ten and Clews was already up to 12th.

Brad Ward led lap 4 from Owen, James Ward, Kemal and Lawrence.

But it was clews who seemingly appeared from nowhere to snatch the lead on lap 5 with Kemal following him through.

Gowans was pushed out of contention while Shane Sullivan and Glen Baker got together and spun out of the race.

Clews opened up a gap as Brad Ward again moved into second with Lawrence and Kemal close behind.

Darren Chamberlin, Dan Evans and Garrett Halder were having a tussle for positions back in the field.

The final lap saw Clews secure the victory with Kemal, Brad Ward and Lawrence behind.

James Ward, Adam Gowans and Tyler owen were next with Neil Crompton finishing 8th.

Top Gear’s Steve Pizzati had a DNF just one lap short of the finish.

It was once again Maurice Masini who took the Masters Cup glory from Shane Wolki and Mark Duckworth.
