LAWRENCE TAKES OUT FIRST RACE OF AUSSIE RACING CARS AT WINTON
27 June 2009

David Lawrence drew first blood in his attempt to close on Kyle Clews’ series lead by winning race 1 of the Aussie Racing Cars Series round 3 at Winton Raceway today.

It was Clews who was fastest in qualifying and started on grid 1 with a lap time six tenths faster than second qualifier Adam Gowans.

The race didn’t do any favours for Clews as he dropped to fourth place on the first lap and unable to make any inroads into the top three of Lawrence, Gowans and Tyler Owen.

Lawrence went on to win the race by six seconds.

The big mover of the race, and winner of the Masters Cup was Darren Chamberlin who stormed from 13th on the grid to sixth place by the end of the race.

With three races tomorrow there is sure to be plenty of action as Clews fights to make amends for today and Lawrence tries to continue on his winning way.
