Its been Five years since the Aussie Racing Cars have raced at Winton and only a small handful of drivers in this year’s championship raced there in 2013, a couple of teams have practiced there this year, but that makes the majority of drivers going in blind.

Winton is a unique tight and twisty layout which suits the pocket rockets perfectly.  12 corners and three straights provide plenty of passing opportunities with the infamous turn 1 and 2 providing some serious wheel to wheel action. The track is quite wide as well and we expect to see plenty of overtaking into turns one through four and then again over the back of the circuit for six through nine.

The weather will play a part in this weekends event, there maybe some rain about for Friday and the temperatures we’ve been told are very cold at the moment!

28 cars are entered for round three with a couple of new runners expected to join the class this weekend.

KKP Motorsport’s Kel Treseder has dominated the first two rounds, winning both the Baskerville and Phillip Island events, after the later event Treseders engine was sent to the factory to check for conformity where it was given the all clear, this is standard practice for the category.

Treseder is on 102 points, four points behind is Kyle Ensby who is tied with Joel Heinrich on 98, Reece Chapman sits in fourth with 94 points and Blake Sciberras rounds out the top five on 92.

In the Masters Cup Adam Clark is tied with Leigh Bowler both on 45 points from Grant Thompson with 27 points.  Brendon Tucker leads the Gold Cup with 45 points from Jeff Watters sitting on 32, just one point ahead of Craig Thompson.  Kyle Ensby leads the Rookies with 50 points, Joshua Anderson is 10 behind with Adam Clark in third (32points) and the Ladies Trophy sees Maddy Dunston tied with Charlotte Poynting both on 45 points.

The weekends schedule sees the Aussie Cars have a practice at 9.30am Friday morning with qualifying later in the afternoon at 1.30pm.  Race One is first up Saturday morning at 9.25am with the second race at 1.10pm and on Sunday two more races, 11.00am and then the last event for the weekend at 3.55pm.  All four races are over 10 laps of the 3.0km circuit and Race Three will be a partial reverse grid affair.
