The cars are being prep’d, the trucks are being fuelled, flights are booked, rooms are waiting and our northern fan base are biting at the bit to see the pocket rockets hit Australia’s northern most race track.

Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway is seriously suited to the ARC series.  Its 2.9km anti-clockwise circuit will see the Yamaha powered mini rocket ships hit 230km/hr down the front straight.

Our season started across the ditch back in January and by the time we hit Darwin we (the cars and teams) have travelled 8647Km over land and sea, and that’s just from our home base in QLD, the interstate teams have travelled even further!  Making ARC not only the largest Australian racing category but also the second most travelled after the V8Supercars.

A field of 38 cars will take to the grid in a few weeks’ time.  It’s been 10 years since ARC raced alongside the V8 Supercars in Darwin and 5 years since travelling north as part of the Australian Superbike Championship.  Our third round is actually our first round on the mainland soil!

“As a series we love the trek to Darwin, again partnering with the V8 Supercars we are expecting to field the biggest number of cars for this round, the fast flowing circuit is ideal for 3-4 wide racing in our cars.  Darwin’s a party town, they love their racing and this event is one of the best for the whole year, we are really excited to be back on track at Hidden Valley” said Brad Ward ARC Category Manager.

A number of the teams have been quizzed on their thoughts for this round here is what they have to say:

Western Sydney Motorsports: All 3 western Sydney Motorsport drivers will be racing at Darwin for the very first time. This track presents us with some challenges. We are preparing ourselves for some very difficult humid conditions which all of us have limited experience in. For us this weekend will be all about Craig and Grant Thompson continuing their development and moving up the grid and Craig Woods pushing for a podium finish to keep his championship tilt on track.

Team Visper:  Both Visper racing drivers, Ben Walsh and Adrien Flack are looking forward to their first time in Darwin at round 3 of the Aussie Racing Cars series. Both drivers found competitive form in Tasmania despite both cars experiencing notable power issues.

With hopes of these power issues being remedied, both drivers are confident of competing at the front.  Walsh improves every time he gets in the car and is now showing front running potential despite this being his first year in the series, and his return to motorsport after 10 years on the sidelines after a very successful international open wheel career.   Walsh currently leads both the Rookie Cup and the Masters Cup point scores.

Advantage Motorsports: After strong results at the Symmons Plains round, the Advantage Motorsport team of Chris Stevenson and Jeff Watters have come to terms with their new cars – with Chris securing another podium and consistent top 10 finisher all weekend. With only a few of the ARC drivers having competed at Darwin’s Hidden Valley is nobody’s home track so Advantage Motorsport is hoping to back up its’ strong results from Tasmania.

John Reynolds: The PXL Logistics Mustang Aussie Car Team can’t wait to hit the track in Darwin. Normally zero degrees in Albury and 35 degrees up North. Bring it on!!!

Brendon Pingel:We are really focused on maintaining our fast and competitive pace up in the far north. Another new track with an exciting challenge, and I’m super focused on fighting hard to maintain the series lead” Brendon said. “I’m very happy with the setup and performance of my Spirit of Lockyer car after the major repairs from the New Zealand incident. Really looking forward to another exciting and competitive round in Darwin”.

Once again our media team will be at Darwin, images and event reports for practice, qualifying and all the races will be posted on our Facebook page and Website.  Please share our posts with all your friends on Facebook we are looking to get as many new likers on our page as possible this year.  Look out Darwin the Aussie Racing Cars party is about to get started!!
