In 2002 the category was by invited by CAMS (Australia’s peak motorsport authority) to join their fold and become recognized by them as a fully sanctioned National Racing Category. Under a long term agreement now signed between Aussie Racing Cars Australia and CAMS, the provision of services such as Rules Certification, access to their established Judicial System, Event Administration, Insurance, promotion and a host of other services enables category competition within Australian Motorsport under the CAMS banner.
AVESCO (V8 Supercars Australia) were well aware of the impressive growth and public acceptance of the Aussie Racing Car Category as it was starting to take the motoring world by storm. It was becoming clear the category was destined to become a major attraction at the big events. In 2002 AVESCO recognised the entertainment potential the category could add to their circus and offered the category the opportunity to run a couple of test races at their events to gauge spectator response. The positive reaction from not only the spectating public but right through to the promoters, the media and all their Supercar teams in the pits was overwhelming and in 2003 Aussie Racing Cars was invited to come on board to stage the entire championship as a full support to the V8 Supercar Championship Series across Australia.
