Aussie Racing Cars Sydney Motorsport Park Rnd 4 Weekend Wrap

In what was one of our most exciting rounds so far for 2015, the fourth round at Sydney Motorsport Park had a bit of everything!  All of our entrants performed to the highest level, be it on and off the track.  The presentation of the cars was second to none and the 3 and 4 wide during many of the races again proved we are the class to watch! Round 4 SMP Race 4 Report

IN A thrilling fourth and final race of the fourth round, James Abela’s second place has given him overall victory in Aussie Racing Cars over Brendon Pingel at Sydney Motorsport Park. The late Sunday afternoon race was held in wet conditions where Pingel started off the outside of the front row in his Holden Cruze but slipped to third in the opening phases. From the second row, Chris Stevenson (Nissan Altima) swept to an early lead, before being passed by pole sitter Abela (Toyota Aurion) at turn 6. Pingel took the lead on the second lap just prior to when the safety car was deployed to retrieve the stricken Jeff Watters Altima at turn 3. Round 4 SMP Race 3 Report

TONY QUINN has won the third race of the Aussie Racing Cars Series fourth round, beating Adam Casuccio and Myles Bond in the reverse grid, handicap start event. Driving the first Ford Mustang-shaped racer built and starting 16th, Quinn did it fine style winning by three seconds after nine laps. Casuccio (Ford Falcon) was sixth on the grid and was through to the lead on the opening lap, establishing a handy margin until eventually chased down and overtaken by Quinn on lap 7. The opening lap also saw Dehnam Ballantyne crash his Holden Cruze after turn 8 but it didn’t produce a safety car. Round 4 SMP Race 2 Report

SERIES LEADER Brendon Pingel emerged from a race-long fight with James Abela, Adrian Flack and Peter Carr to win a thrilling race two the Aussie Racing Cars’ fourth round at Sydney Motorsport Park this afternoon. Abela (Horsley Park Gun Shop Toyota Aurion) and Pingel (Lockyer Holden Cruze) went stride-for-stride from the start to turn 2 with Abela coming out as the early race leader. Behind them Damien Flack (Automotive Holdings Group Euro GT) and James Duckworth (RDA Brakes Euro GT) tangled at the same corner while Adrian Flack (A GAS National Euro GT) scraped by without being unduly hampered. He and Carr (Mako Sunglasses Ford Mustang) soon joined the front running pair while there was action aplenty down the race order . . . particularly…

IT WAS a lights-to-flag victory for James Abela in the first of four races for round four honours at Sydney Motorsport Park. The young pilot of the Horsley Park Gun Shop Toyota Aurion never appeared in doubt, winning the nine-lap race by 1.1 seconds over a three-way dice for second where Brendon Pingel (Lockyer Holden Cruze) edged out Peter Carr (Mako Sunglasses Ford Mustang) and Adrian Flack (A GAS National Euro GT). However the latter was penalised five seconds which relegated him to seventh behind James Duckworth (RDA Brakes Euro GT), Damien Flack (Automotive Holdings Group Euro GT) and Chris Stevenson’s Hertz Nissan Altima. Round 4 SMP Qualifying

MAURICE MASINI took his good form from practice earlier in the day and topped qualifying for round four of the Aussie Racing Car Series at Sydney Motorsport Park this afternoon. He set a time of 1 minute 12.67 seconds in his Penrith Car Sales Ford Mustang on just his second flying lap, a benchmark nobody could match. Nearest to come to Masini was youngster James Abela (Horsley Park Gun Shop Toyota Aurion), 0.3069 seconds away, which will make for an all-New South Wales front row for tomorrow’s opening race. Last round winner Adam Uebergang (Euro GT) from Queensland and Adrian Flack (A GAS National Euro GT) also from north of the border, will share the second row. Round 4 SMP Practice Friday

Friday Practice DESPITE MAKING a smoky exit, Maurice Masini has been the fastest in the opening practice session for round four of the Aussie Racing Car Series at Sydney Motorsport Park. The Yamaha-engined, scaled bodied pocket rockets are a leading support category to the V8 Supercars this weekend. In his first outing for the season, Masini clocked a best lap of 1 minute 43.3039 seconds, just over four tenths of a second quicker than his nearest rival before his Ford Mustang-bodied racer retired via the back gate to the pit paddock with a rear left suspension failure. Make Space For Ace

Adam Casuccio joins Australia’s largest Race Category making his debut appearance in the Aussie Racing Cars Championship at the Sydney Motorsport Park V8 Supercar Super Sprint at the weekend. Casuccio wasted no time making himself well known securing a second place finish in race 3 on Sunday morning after a race long battle with category owner, and current Australian GT Championship front runner, Tony Quinn. Backed with the support of Ace Construction Group and Toledo tools, this competitor is fast shaping up to be one of the top contenders, as the series heats up for round 5 of the National Championship to be held alongside the V8 Supercars at the Bathurst 1000 from 8 to 11 October 2015.

Abela’s New War Paint Ready for Sydney this Weekend

Sydney-sider James Abela will return to the Sydney Motorsport Park to compete in Round four of the Aussie Racing Car Series this weekend. The Horsley Park local will be competing aboard a new-look Toyota Aurion on the circuit where he tasted success last month in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge taking out his first win. Abela, 17, will line up along with 37 others hoping to take to the podium come Sunday. Round Four; Aussie Racing Cars will Dominate Sydney Motorsport Park

Continuing as Australia's biggest racing championship the Aussie Racing Cars will field 38 of our specialised single seater tin top racers.  Aptly named the "Pocket Rockets" that’s just what they are, with a power to weight ratio not seen in any other class.  It’s been 3 years since the class raced at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the V8Supercar Series. "We may not be the biggest cars on the track but we are by far Australia's biggest category in numbers, I'm very excited to have 38 of our cars lined up for next weekend" said Brad Ward category manager.  "This round sees 3 or 4 new drivers join us, plus the return of a few very fast drivers not seen this year" he said.…
